Specialized Victim Services support for those
at the highest level of risk…

The Prince George & District Elizabeth Fry Society Specialized Victim Services (SVS) works in partnership with the RCMP and Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) to form the Domestic Violence Unit (DVU) in Prince George. This team monitors and supports couples assessed as highest risk of intimate partner and gender-based violence as a means of homicide prevention.

The Specialized Victim Services can provide:

  • A client-centered, trauma-informed approach.
  • Crisis counseling.
  • Safety planning.
  • Education on dynamics of abuse and gender-based violence.
  • Emotional support.
  • Police file and justice system updates.
  • Outreach support; meeting clients in their homes and community.
  • Critical incident response.
  • Advocacy and accompaniment for meetings with police, lawyers, social workers, as well as attending criminal and family court.
  • Assistance with Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP) applications and support with Victim Impact Statements.
  • Referrals to other organizations and to other Elizabeth Fry Society programs.
