Grounds & Maintenance Worker
Location – Prince George
(Permanent Part-Time)
Purpose:
The Prince George & District Elizabeth Fry Housing Society is accepting applications for a permanent part-time Grounds & Maintenance Worker. The individual will assist the Maintenance Coordinator and Maintenance Assistant to keep the property maintained and operating 24 hours a day; to follow Elizabeth Fry Housing Society service programs, policies and procedures, including a routine, preventative and corrective maintenance program; and follow safe work practices.
The Grounds & Maintenance Worker will work with the Maintenance Coordinator and Maintenance Assistant to perform the functions and tasks set forth in the following:
- Cleans, washes and disinfects building areas such as walls, windows, ceilings, floor, carpets, air vents at unit turn-overs to bring vacant units up to agency standards of maintenance
- Collect and dispose of refuse and maintain clean effuse areas, performs spot clean-ups as required
- Maintains and cleans parking lots and sidewalks using hand and powered brooms, rakes, shovels and other equipment to remove dirt, leaves, snow and other refuse; performs minor gardening tasks such as mowing and trimming lawn, weeding, watering
- Performs minor maintenance on buildings, grounds, and some preventative maintenance
- assist in the completion of scheduled and unscheduled property and hazard inspections
- maintain a professional appearance
- available for rotating on-call
Required Education, Training and Experience:
- Grade 12 High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic experience in property maintenance
- A solid understanding and ability to conduct basic carpentry, plumbing and electrical functions
- Ability to communicate verbally and written with good English skills
- Able to implement work safety programs
- Willing to contribute in other areas as required
- Formal maintenance training
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to work with a wide range of tenants
- WHMIS
- Clear driver’s abstract
- Basic computer skills
Salary Range:
$14.40 per hour
Work Schedule:
25 hours per week
