In December 2015, four local high schools participated in human trafficking and exploitation workshops presented by the Children of the Street Society. The sixty minute Taking Care of Ourselves, Taking Care of Others (TCO²) presentation engaged students in grades 8/9, and 10/11/12 in topics including: luring and recruitment; internet safety; deglamorizing the sex trade; gangs and sexual exploitation; healthy relationships and self-worth; and, the role of drugs and alcohol in exploitation. The presentations were funded by RCMP Victim Services and the Elizabeth Fry Society (funded through a joint grant provided by the Office to Combat Trafficking in Persons), and participating high schools.
